it is you it is you who
are the ocean swishing
washing whispering humming
the heady wine of your songs filled
with the seductive blue-greens of the skies
the honey salt of your sprays the sedating
fingers of your breezes combing my
tresses caressing my senses
flowing helplessly floundering powerlessly
in the grip of your rolling rippling waves
i am the earth solid as rock
yet soft and shifting as the sand
drowning in your arms
against which you crash and pull
inexorably trying to break
my will tearing my heart
my tender limbs into shreds
you crash and recede far out of reach
from my clinging lips my clutching eyes
and rise and roll again in your inescapable
relentless waves so overwhelming
so overpowering so huge so huge
enough to swallow me
engulf me claim me subdue me
in those unfathomable depths
from where my life-oxygen my sun
my moon my stars my birds on wing
would forever be destroyed
turning me into barren
sand a parched desert where
not a blade of green
would spring up in hope
of new life –
my love, forever must I be
the lone rock standing
staunch in an empty shore
afraid of drowning in
your silent dream songs
which you fling against me over and over
until time turns into water wind and stone
are the ocean swishing
washing whispering humming
the heady wine of your songs filled
with the seductive blue-greens of the skies
the honey salt of your sprays the sedating
fingers of your breezes combing my
tresses caressing my senses
flowing helplessly floundering powerlessly
