The woods are lovely dark and deep.. I debated with myself if I should use a loose style or the controlled one I've used in this and decided I needed it to be controlled. I feel keeping it tight and controlled has enabled me to capture the brooding atmosphere I saw in this picture. But I'll try it out again with a loose style and see what happens. That's one of the best things I enjoy about painting, the practically unending variations of styles.

For You
Awakenings cravings longings
Let loose in the blank void..
You make me talk to you
With my thoughts hidden
In the leaves of my words..
Love’s lips slip
Between sheets of my imaginations..
Pools of dripping rain-clouds
Collect under the projections
Of the window sills of my mind..
Flowing rivulets snaking sinuous arousals
Sleeping-dreaming sensuous predilections
Invoked in sorceries of sugar-coated
Whispers whimpers rising in the tides
Of tempestuous tenderness..
Chips of marble-glass flakes
Blue-green violet-red golden flames
Bake on the sea-sands of my reflections

My son, in his long haired days. Always the imp, stubborn as stubborn can be, he refused to stay still, driving me up the wall when I tried to capture him with my pencil. All in all, I think I did manage to get the essence of his personality. And oh, I hated his dreadlocks.. nagged him and nagged him.. until he cut it off. he won't admit it, but I think he feels much better too.. LOL - I adore this kid of mine :)
I painted the same sketch, mainly because I wanted to try out painting a brass jug. The handle is a little wonky, but overall I love what I've achieved..the darks and the lights and the reflections. I also like the translucent effects I've managed to create in the grapes. I hate that thing in the background, but have kept it anyway..felt too lazy to wipe it out and make something else.
I've grown out of these standard still lifes.. you know, like some object behind, a bottle or vase, or as it is in this case, a brass jug, strategically arranged fruits.. and so on. These days I try to create still lifes that are not so rigidly composed. Still, I like the shading effects I've managed, especially for the brass jug, so I'm fond of it.
