The sky, aloof, engulfs my thoughts
A scatter of blue frost drops
Spatter across grass tops
My nostrils flare in my quickening breath

Cold earth, cold boughs, cold leaves -
I breathe it all in
Letting them envelop me
In a quiet embrace

The trees sigh, they let out
Their breath, so long captive
Within their hard bark
Ever peeling, ever discarding

Revealing renewed limbs
Shimmering in the dying day
Dancing in the breeze

Reaching for the sky, aloof
